Garmin Instinct Crossover drops to $249 in limited-time hardware promotion
The 2022 hybrid smartwatch is now $50 off retail, offering long battery life and health tracking at a significantly lower price than newer models.
Key points
- The Garmin Instinct Crossover is priced at $249, a $50 discount from its regular retail cost.
- This 2022 model offers 28 days of battery life and over 100 sport tracking modes.
- The device costs $400 less than the newer AMOLED version of the watch.
Garmin is currently offering its Instinct Crossover hybrid smartwatch at a reduced price of $249. According to 9to5Google, this deal represents a $50 discount from the standard retail price and places the device just $5 away from its lowest recorded price point. The promotion highlights the value of the 2022 release compared to newer, more expensive hardware options.
The Instinct Crossover combines physical watch hands with a digital smartwatch interface. The mechanical hands automatically retract to reveal the backlit screen when needed, allowing users to view data without obstruction. The watch features glow-in-the-dark hands and numbers for visibility in low-light conditions. It supports over 100 activity and sport modes, providing comprehensive tracking for various exercises and outdoor pursuits.
Battery and Connectivity Features
The device delivers up to 28 days of battery life during regular smartwatch usage. For GPS-intensive activities, the watch can operate for up to 100 hours on a single charge. This endurance is significantly longer than many competing smartwatches that require daily or nightly charging. The long battery life is a primary selling point for users who prefer not to manage frequent power cycles.
The Instinct Crossover supports Garmin Connect IQ, allowing users to customize the watch face and download additional apps. It syncs with Strava to consolidate workout data in one location. The watch can also connect with Meta AI Glasses, enabling users to view real-time workout statistics on videos recorded during runs or other activities. Notifications from paired devices remain visible on the watch face.
Comparison to Newer Models
Garmin sells a newer version of this watch that features an AMOLED display. That newer model is priced at $649, making it $400 more expensive than the Instinct Crossover. According to 9to5Google, the price difference raises questions about whether the upgraded display justifies the additional cost for average consumers. The 2022 Crossover model remains a viable option for users who prioritize battery life and physical aesthetics over high-resolution screens.
Garmin has a history of supporting its watches for extended periods. This long-term support strategy helps maintain the relevance of older models like the Instinct Crossover. While the hardware is from 2022, the continued software support ensures that users receive updates and new features. This approach contrasts with some competitors that may phase out support for older devices more quickly.
What should you do?
Security professionals and tech buyers should verify the legitimacy of any deal before purchasing hardware. Check the official Garmin website or authorized retailers to confirm the $249 price is active. Review the return policy in case the device does not meet expectations. Ensure that the watch is compatible with your existing smartphone and fitness apps before buying.
